Despite delivering some of the most awesome titles such as Super Mario
Galaxy, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. Brawl in the first half of 2008, my
expectations from Sluggers definitely climbed manifold. But promising a great
experience and really being able to deliver it are two different things. Apart
from the aforementioned masterpieces, most Wii titles have been rather silly and
incredibly shallow when we talk of the actual gameplay. Well, sadly Sluggers
joins the kitty and turns out to be a little too simple for my liking. Reason?
There is an extremely limited number of things you can do in the game.

Just like its previous installment on the GameCube, Sluggers is nothing but a
mere joke when it comes to the baseball game. Once the player has mastered the
pitching and the hitting mechanics, he/she will be hard pressed to find anything
else; he will be repeating the same chores over and over again, until a winner
is declared by the random number generator.
The remote handles everything from throwing the ball to moving the fielders;
better control can be acquired with the help of the nun-chuck, but the
implementation is too shoddy.
The only thing amusing about the experience is the multiplayer component,
which of course, can be enjoyed with help of a few friends. Having said that,
the SP component is nothing short of terrible. There is absolutely no reason on
earth for me to recommend Mario Super Sluggers to anyone. Go sip a couple of
lattes with your friends instead.
