One of the best performing LCD monitors available today

The Syncmaster 2033sw LCD monitor stands towering above the competition in terms of style, performance and value for money. The 20-inch LCD has an elegant glossy bezel with a transparent panel.

The round base provides excellent stability and also adds to the overall looks. It has a neat OSD menu with navigation keys on the right, which can be used to adjust all the required features. It also has different modes of operations like text, Internet, movies etc. One thing that bothered me was its non-standard display resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels which makes it a 900p resolution. Yes this resolution is great for watching HD content and general working as it gives you more screen estate. But due to the non standard resolution, gamers would face troubles. They would have to play games on it at either 1440 x 900 resolution or customize the game to display it in 1600 x 900. Considering not all games have got support for customizing, the odd resolution might be a bit of trouble in terms of aspect ratio.

Verdict

It comes with both D-sub and DVI interference with HDCP and thanks to the 5 ms response time playing games and watching videos is perfect. In our displaymate benchmarks, the monitor showed minimal color registration error. Other than that it cleared all the tests with flying colors. The lack of speakers and side USB port is disappointing, but then its price makes up for all these minor flaws.
