The Sennheiser MM50 is a hybrid; kind of like a mix of a high-end ear-canal
earphone and a full-fledged mobile headset with mic. And it does both tasks
brilliantly. Designed for Nokia mobiles which have a 3.5mm audio output, the
MM50 brings a new level of clarity to your everyday mobile conversations.
The MM50 comes in two parts; earphones with a short wire, and a separate
microphone module, itself with a 3.5mm out. Therefore, you can also choose to
plug in a separate set of earphones. The earphones have been tweaked for both
vocals and music and offer excellent noise isolation once properly seated in the
ear canal. The small button near the microphone module allows you to answer and
end calls, just like any regular wired headset. If supported, you can also hold
the button down to voice dial and double click the button to dial the last
dialled number. However, it is the amazing bass response which will make you go
and buy a bigger memory card for your phone to fill up with music.
However, performance aside, the price of Rs 4.5 k will put off a lot of
people. And I think an extension wire should have been included, to enable the
earphones to work solo on an MP3 player for example. This dual use would have
justified the price a little. Buy it if you are not bothered about the price and
are in the market for the final word in this category.
