Mission One

At a time when cars are going green with hybrids and electrics, why not bikes?

Hitesh Raj Bhagat

The Mission One is a high performance electric motorcycle powered by Lithium ion batteries, the kind your cellphone uses. While that in itself is a fantastic achievement, wrap your head around the specs; it can get up to 240 kmph quite easily and is made from superbike parts (the whole kit, including racing compound tyres, racing suspension and high performance brakes). Note that an electric motor doesn't have a torque curve; it produces the full amount right from the word go. And the Mission One has no gears and no clutch. In other words, the acceleration will be gut-wreching. The batteries are modular, so they can be replaced in parts as needed. It takes about 2.5 hours for a full charge (from a 220V socket) plus get this, the bike is wireless enabled. With a wireless laptop, you can access ride data, check bike status and change settings. Expected price would be somewhere around US$ 68,995
