Could be Better

Features a unique design, but the performance definitely needs a boost

The HS100 is a re-branded Bluetooth headset sold under the HotSpot brand name. At first glance it looks quite ordinary, but it does have one unique feature; instead of a regular power button, it is switched on and off by moving the earpiece.

It came with few bundled accessories including a removable earclip, car holder, lanyard and three different sizes of eartips. Pairing was done by holding down the call and volume buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds till the tiny red light started flashing. Once paired with a phone, it provided all the usual functions; volume control, last call redial and voice dialling. It can also be paired with a laptop quite easily in the same way.

Build quality was not the best we've seen, and it never did fit very comfortably for me (though a colleague of mine who tried it found it just fine). This inspite of there being different size earpiece attachments. Audio quality was not the best we've tested-the caller's voice sounded distant at times, although the caller never had a problem in hearing us.

Verdict

Given the price, you might also want to consider the more affordable and more popular Jabra BT135 (Rs 1800) which comes with three different snap-on color plates.
