Old wine in a new bottle? The Mitashi Mx 2009 boombox is the perfect example
of the old meeting the new. Basically a portable audio and video player, it
offers multiple methods of playing your media as well as built in cassette
player and FM radio. ON top, you'll find a USB port and an SD card slot to
playback digital video, audio and photos.
The player offers video upscaling to 1080i if you use the component output
which is good for flat panel TVs. However, what you may not agree with is the
design and the controls. The design is exactly the same as the old two-in-ones
which are totally forgotten now. The cassette controls are the mechanical ones
that you have to push in. Dials on the side control the volume and the mode (CD
- Tuner - Tape).
The remote is also nothing to be very excited about. It has a cheap feel to
it, and the buttons don't really respond with one click at all times.
The audio quality (if you use the built in speakers) is nothing more than
passable. There is absolutely no bass, and the sound quality is not great
either.

You're basically paying for a portable, upscaling DVD, audio CD, cassette
player and FM radio (it works on batteries too). Buy it if you still have
cassettes or need to copy songs from CDs to cassettes. Otherwise, you'll be
better of with a standalone upscaling DVD player from Philips for the same
price.
