The Radeon 2600 Pro is a toned-down version of the Radeon 2600XT, and is
based on the same architecture as the Radeon 2600XT except that this one is more
compact. It comes with a lesser clock speed, different memory configuration, and
a slightly noisier fan. Though unavailability of a CrossFire connector is a
disadvantage, this one comes with HDMI capability and is HDCP compliant. Apart
from the default support for TV and DVI, it also comes with 5.1 surround audio
capability to enjoy Blu-ray and HD DVD movies, hence making it suitable for
high-def content on your PC.
Targeted mainly at budget-conscious gamers, the gaming performance was
decent. You don't expect a budget card to roar in terms of sheer numbers. With
3D Mark, it managed a good 3509 and games like 'Fear' and 'Bioshock' were quite
playable. With 'Company of Heroes' it gave an average of 20 fps at maximum
settings, which is really good for a budget card.
