New Kid on the Block
NVIDIAseems to have decided to launch a new product each quarter; even before
we could enjoy their latest offering, there another product gets announced. Now,
they have come up with the Palit GeForce 9600GT, their first 9-series card which
uses a completely new core and enhanced compression technique. It also takes
care of all display codecs relieving the CPU from the pain completely. This card
comes with 4 different display ports: HDMI, dual DVI, and a special port Display
(rarely seen in graphics cards).
The performance of this sub 10k card was brilliant; it cruised through all
our tests smoothly. In 3D mark06 it roared high with a score of 10738, which is
higher than the likes of XFX 8800GT and is quiet close to what we got from ATI
Radeon HD3850. In Company of heroes an average score of 133 fps is at par with
what you will get from 8800GT cards. This card scored well in Crysis and UT3
tests too. Put two of them in SLI and you can get a performance which wills be
close to what you get from high-end cards. Overall this card is going to rule
the market in coming months for sure, a must have for gamers who need high fps
but at minimal cost.
