The diNovo Mini is perfect when you want to connect a PC to your TV to use it
as a media center. You don't want a full-size keyboard and mouse (even if
they're wireless) cluttering the space on the bed, do you? The diNovo Mini packs
in both keyboard and mouse functionality into a compact, wireless, backlit,
battery-powered device. The trackpad actually doubles up as a D-pad too (you've
to switch modes manually) and all the keys have a nice, even backlight, in amber
and green. In PC mode, it works just like a usual keyboard.
The glossy keyboard cover is active; it powers on the device when open and
shuts it down when closed. But the cover is way too prone to scratches. You
should also realize that it's more of a thumb-board rather than a keyboard.
Don't expect to start typing really fast, because the keys just don't have the
tactile feedback or travel of a regular keyboard.
You've to use the USB dongle with the PC, but not so when you want to use it
with a PlayStation 3. Then you will have to manually switch from PC to PS3 using
a tiny lever under the back cover, and register your keyboard with the PS3
system for the first time only. It'll then work for all in-game and IM chats,
plus the trackpad also works to navigate around the XMB and while surfing the
net on the PS3. Neat!
Overall, a nice little piece of hardware, but the price will make you think
10 times before picking it up.
