Very few LCD monitors available today can be tagged as meant for graphics
professionals only, but the Viewsonic VP2250wb is one such LCD. It belongs to
the new Pro series which can display way better color gamut than a normal LCD
display.
This LCD has got a black matte finish which looks refreshingly better than
all the glossy panels that have started to pour in the market lately. The
ergonomics are decent; the power key alongside the navigation and selection keys
is placed on the front. But sadly the USB ports, DVI and D-sub ports, all are
placed on the back.
Much to our liking this LCD comes with height, pivot and even swivel
adjustment. I particularly liked its stand; it is the sturdiest that I have seen
till date. But what I didn't like is the absence of HDMI and also the fact that
its resolution is just limited to 1680 x 1050 pixels.
To check its performance we did run our regular benchmarks on it and it
performed excellently in all of them. It cleared all of the Displaymate
benchmark tests. Even in the color regeneration error, where every LCD shows
troubles, this one showed minimum error. Its performance in games and videos was
also superb.
Overall performance was nothing short of stellar, but it is just not worth
its price. At a price of under 30k, one can go for the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA
which comes with the same features and has an IPS panel that is way better than
the TN+ panel on the Viewsonic for professionals.
