This sleek 19” LCD display doubles up as a HD-ready TV. It has a glossy front
panel with a dark red curve at the base which makes it look artistic. The front
has an LED power indicator on the right-side bottom and the power, menu and
adjustment keys are placed on the side, as had been the case with most of the
LG's TV sets.
As mentioned, this is an HD-ready monitor. HD content can be viewed on it
without any issues; thanks to the HDMI port. It also comes with a DVI, D-sub,
S-video, component, a 3.5mm audio jack and an antenna jack for connectivity. The
unit performed great as an LCD monitor for work as well as gaming and
entertainment. The black levels were great courtesy 20000:1 contrast ratio. As a
TV unit, color settings has to be toned down manually which by default are very
vivid. The sound output of the LCD was not too loud, but is satisfactory enough
for a small room.
In the Displaymate benchmarks, the monitor showed noise in matrix resolution
tests as well as suffered from minor streaking. Even though it has a 5 ms
response, the streaking was somewhat of a shocker. Although in games and videos
and even while watching TV, there was hardly any streaking visible.
Overall, a decent buy for its price; especially for people who are short on
space and cannot afford to keep an LCD monitor as well as a TV.
