The Sharp Aquos LC-32PX5M will cast a good impression as soon as you pull it
out of the box. A sleek design, study table stand and pleasing silver-back color
scheme all contribute to the overall aesthetics. The TV supports a maximum
resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. Playing games on the TV was quite a treat, but
we've definitely seen better-like the Samsung LA-32R81B. The Aquos has a
response time of 6 ms though, which is
marginally faster than the Samsung at 8 ms.
The speakers are placed at the bottom of the screen which adds to the good
looks of the TV, but the speakers themselves were only good enough for light TV
watching. Coming to contrast ratio, it is also low (6000:1), as compared to some
of the other LCD's we reviewed in the past. As far as connectivity goes, you get
two HDMI ports, 3 x composite video, 2 x component video.
What I found strange is that TV does not swivel side to side. The stand is
locked to one position only, so if you need to turn it around a bit to get the
desired angle, you'll have to pick it up and turn it. Now, that is a bit much
for lazy fellows like me. However, wall mounting is also an available option.
Secondly, the placement of the buttons on the TV is puzzling-on top! This is
okay if the TV is kept on a table. But if you'll mount the TV, seeing the
buttons (and even reaching them) won't be an easy task.
Overall, the TV has good looks with a decent feature set-but there are other
cheaper options that will perform just as well-like the Samsung
LA-32R81B.
