The Micromax X1i is a GSM phone priced at Rs 2.5k but straight out of the
box, it feels more expensive in terms of its quality and finish. Switch it on,
and you are immediately mesmerized by the red, green and blue lights around the
screen; an indication that your device is switching on! Hey, it works for some
people!
Once it's ready to be used, you find that the menu is simple and completely
uncluttered. The keypad feels quite rubbery, which is good for the grip that it
offers while typing messages. Looks like it would be quite resistant to dust and
moisture. Though I was disappointed by the call quality of the Micromax X225,
there were no problems as such that I faced here. The call quality of the X1i is
extremely good.
It also has the MP3 player which can be used to play all your music files,
but this can be accessed only if the memory card is slotted in.
The phone fits in the hand quite well and does not heat up at all when you
are on a call.

The main focus of the phone is an extra long battery life. So, not only does
it have a really huge 1800 mAh battery, there's also evidence of efforts made to
reduce power consumption (like the smaller screen and no-nonsense, no-frills
operation). With regular usage of a few calls everyday, it should give you 7 to
8 days of battery life. Overall, the X1i is a perfect fit for those who need a
basic, easy-to-use phone for long hours of usage. It's also a boon for anyone
who has to go for long periods without access to a wall outlet.
