The 7310 is also called the Supernova, for reasons unknown to us. Even though
externally it looks brand new, look closely and you'll see the similarities with
the Nokia 6300-both are based on the Series 40 platform. Only thing is that the
7310 is lighter. The weight reduction can be attributed to the absence of a
steel back cover. The keys feel flat and are pretty close to each other; they're
better suited to smaller, slender fingers. The 2” QVGA screen is bright and
crisp indoors, but outdoors in bright daylight, the mirror effect screen will be
a serious issue. It's fine if you're never in the sunlight or if you move around
in cars with tinted windows. There is a 2 MP camera but without any sort of
flash (not even LED). So you need external light to get decent shots; night mode
is next to useless. Video is restricted to QCIF @ 15 fps.
This phone is meant for people who buy phones for the “bling factor” and
keeping this in mind, the box comes with an additional interchangeable color
cover (in pink). The other big plus is that it includes TV out functionality
(cable is provided). Battery backup is average thanks to the tiny 860 mAh
battery. With calls, radio, texts and a bit of web, you'll be reaching for the
charger twice a day. As an alternative, if you don't mind a slightly clunkier
design, I'd suggest the SE K790i for just 1k more. It has a much better camera
too.
