Funky-shaped Jukebox

This Xpressmusic has some extras like Nokia maps

The 5220 is another affordable candybar music phone from Nokia; but unlike the regular candybars all of which sport a boring design-this one looks appealing in its strikingly different D-shaped design along with its brilliant 2” screen.

The fashion quotient is very much there but personally I didn't like the glossy front. The navigation D pad is great to work with, but I can't say the same for the numeric keypad, which takes some time getting used to.

Being an Xpressmusic phone, the audio capabilities are excellent. Like rest of the music phones; this one also comes with dedicated music keys, 3.5mm audio jack, music light effects. It even boasts of a dedicated music chip for excellent output. The FM reception was flawless even when the phone was kept within the pocket of my jeans.

Verdict

An interesting add-on to this Series 40 phone is the preloaded Nokia Maps which can be used with an external GPS. The 2 MP fixed focus camera clicks average snaps during day time and is pretty quick. However, the disappointing part is that it records videos in the ancient QCIF format which is a big letdown. The battery life is good; after a full recharge the battery lasted for a good one day and a half. If we keep slight niggles aside, at this price, this funky-shaped phone is a perfect fit for college going teens.
