There are plenty of inkjet printers avilable in the market but not all offer
value for money. If you have been looking around to get a good entry-level
inkjet printer for yourself, Canon's new Pixma iP1980 might just be perfect.
This is just an upgrade to Canon's iP1880 and looks good in its black
exterior. Its form factor is such that it won't eat up much space and is perfect
for home/ small offices.
Canon has kept everything simple and unclutterd. Setting it up is just a
matter of 10 minutes, the hardware and software installation included. There are
no more than two buttons on the mahine; a power button and then there is another
button that you will only use in case the paper in your tray gets jammed.

This printer can print upto 4800 X 1200 (dpi) resolution. Just like its
successor, the iP1880, this one comes with only two cartridges-one for black and
one for color. However, compared to its predecessor its print speeds are faster.
In our print tests, it gave an average speed of 21 ppm for monochorome and 17
ppm for color prints on an A4 size plain paper. It took about 55 seconds to
print a borderless A4 image which is quick. The quality of prints is superb,
photographs that we printed using it came out nicely; they were clear and
retained their natural colours. Some things were missing, like PictBridge
support and memory card slots, but given the low price, we shouldn't be
complaining. If you don't need either of them, then this one offers great value
for money.
