Slow Mover

The TX111 all-in-one is priced well but offers slow performance

The TX111 is an entry-level AIO from Epson. It comes in an all black finish with large buttons for power, copy, scan on the top left. The scanner lid is made of plastic and feels very flimsy. There is just a small LED light next to the power button for indications. The printer uses 4 individual ink cartridges which helps in saving cost in terms of replacements and brings down the cost per print. The bundled Epson Creativity suite is great for usage and provides lot of options for both print and scan.

The prints were of great quality both in terms of photos and text. The scanned images had amazing clarity and can be saved in a variety of formats. The issue with the device is the slow speed. An A4 borderless photo print takes a staggering 8 minutes to print, whereas a 4” x 6” borderless photo takes about 2 minutes. Text print in standard mode took about 1 minute per page and in draft mode it took 35 seconds to get the first page out. In terms of scanning, it took 20 seconds to bring up a preview and another 20 seconds to scan a document and 35 seconds to scan an image. Copying in Black & White took 40 seconds and in color a whopping 1 minute and 40 seconds. It also takes 15 seconds to shutdown completely!

There's no doubt about the amazing price tag great prints, but make sure you have enough time on your hands (and patience) to handle the slow speeds.
