Straight out of the box, the T40 Series II will impress you. Dressed in black
with yellow kevlar speaker cones, it certainly is distinctive. You'll need to
remove the cloth grille for maximum visual impact though. The 'control' speaker
has volume, bass & treble controls, line in and headphone out.
The T40 SeriesII comes up trumps in terms of audio clarity, but deep bass is
lacking, especially when compared to a good 2.1 set. The system can be cranked
up to decently high volumes, but that effectiveness depends on the audio source
and how and where you actually use the speaker. It is ideally meant for a small-
medium sized room/ bedroom, and not for a house party or as a home theater.
However, there are some things missing with T40 SeriesII. It lacks a remote,
which is sorely missed after a long tiring day. Secondly, the price of the
GigaWorks T40 Series II is way too steep, considering that it is catering to the
desktop computer speaker segment. If it had a small iPod dock on one side, the
price would have been somewhat justified. For Rs 9k, you can get yourself the
THX certified Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speaker system which will blow these out of
the water with over 200 Watts RMS of power.
