Turok for the consoles was a pretty average title compared to the mighty
COD4s and the Bioshocks. All of that leads me to a simple question. Why the heck
does the PC platform get all the average ports from the console arena? It's an
answer that PC gamers deserve to know. Speaking of which, the Turok PC port has
got to be one of the most lethargically created console borrowings/ports in a
long time.
First, the PC version is purely identical to the console versions, so
basically the creators were too lazy to add any kind of exclusive or add-on
content to the scene.
Then comes the unrealistically scripted 'recommended' system requirements.
Even on a high-end gaming machine, and even after clearly surpassing the minimum
system requirements, the game simply does not run smooth enough to warrant
anything in return. Now, that clearly suggests how much time Aspyr Media
actually devoted to properly optimize the game for the PC platform, which of
course is in NADA. Another problem comes in the form of seriously slow loading
times. Now, you would expect such loading times in games like GTA IV or
Oblivion, but for a straight forward shooter thein-game loading times are simply
not acceptable.
Turok on the consoles was slightly more than average, but Turok for PC turns
out to be a big waste. Get it only if someone has a magnum up your head.
