We usually like to feed our readers with a few spicy paragraphs about
mechanics, visual presentation, replay value, the plot, characters, and what
not. But with 'Left 4 Dead', we're going to be bold and straight, and say that
if you don't own this game, you're most definitely missing out on the most fun
you'll ever have in a video game. Fanboy-ish words, I know, but trust me when I
say this, Left 4 Dead is one of the most finely tuned co-op gems ever created,
period! It's available for XBox, PS3 & PC.
Valve, the makers of critically acclaimed franchises such as Half-Life and
Portal, have managed to literally transform co-op play style into a new form of
death match. We're talking about 4 player, super co-op action here, online and
offline. Honestly, playing with bots would be a total waste. Left 4 Dead is one
of the rarest of cases in gaming where human error makes the game more fun.
Throughout your zombie busting escapade, you'll be hard pressed to find a single
clean room. As soon as you try to get some air, a dozen hordes of the undead
come screaming at you from the darkness. The game scores heavily due to the
unrelenting challenges that it puts forward, and that's where the 'fun' factor
increases ten fold.

The makers have managed to recreate four different trajectories of zombie
movie plots, each ending in a scintillating and dramatic escape. Players will
make their way through abandoned hospitals, infested sewers, and a deserted and
totally ruined airport, obliterating hundreds of brain-eaters at every turn.
Just imagine being the last one alive, low on health and on your last nerve with
an army of the dead coming to tear you down limb to limb. Now, that's when the
game really pulls out the stops. Zombie varieties such as the Witch, Boomer,
Hunter, Tank and Smoker seem like cheesy iterations of the reanimated corpse.
But each of these keep you grounded for a long long time. And of course, it's
Valve, so you can expect their utmost continued support for the game, giving
players new weapons, characters, and maps for free. Left 4 Dead marks a
redefining moment for the survival-horror genre.
