MotoGP 08 for Xbox 360

Adaptable racing mechanics that help inexperienced racers feel right at home

12/2/2008

If we talk of the numerous different franchises that have represented the championship motorcycle racing games, the MotoGP franchise undoubtedly dominates them all. And although the latest installment of the series doesn't pack a mould-breaking punch, it does manage to stay true to its roots by offering amazingly realistic racing mechanics and tons of customization options.

The list of newly added features include brand new tracks and circuits. For instance, the Qatar circuit brings the new night racing element, and fantastic lighting effects make the surroundings look absolutely breathtaking. Staple features such as powersliding have also been added, and the series veterans are surely going to be impressed by the leveled up realism factor. For newcomers, getting used to the physics model can be a bit overwhelming, and to rectify that, the creators have provided several varied racing mechanics to suit the players of all abilities and levels.

There are a total of three difficult modes; Arcade, Advanced, and Simulation, that play an important role in ramping up the realism ever more. The Arcade handling mode is best suited for newcomers, while the simulation mode is hard enough to challenge the might and skill of even the roughest of veterans. While the play mechanics work out great, they do seem a little artificial in each difficulty mode.

Verdict

The most rewarding feature has to be the career mode, that allows players to race through three classes: 125cc, 250cc, and MotoGP, with each class getting higher in difficulty. The MotoGP class being the most challenging of all classes, will pit players against some of the best racers in the world. As you progress through the challengers, you'll be able to earn upgrade points and unlock new customization options in order to torque your bikes to the maximum possible extent. The multi-player component works pretty much seamlessly, pitting you against other LIVE racers in quick and ranked matches.

MotoGP 08 is a pretty much solid racer offering an incredibly rewarding career mode and adaptable racing mechanics. Highly Recommended!

It is annoying the constant back fire visual effect, also the rear tyre wobbles, the unexpected bullying riding from the "A.I" riders, which bumps you and make you bounce out the way. Handling and Physics behaviour of MotoGP Racing are not correct. This game On the Xbox360 console freezes a lot, a lot of key features are missing for online gaming. 3 stars out of 10 (poor)
