We've seen various iterations of Street Fighter II over the years: Champion,
Turbo, Super, and each one of them has managed to perfect or significantly
improve upon on the original fighting mechanics in its own way. With HD Remix,
everything does look as if it has fallen into place. Even after considering the
fact that certain balance issues still need to be hammered out, HD Remix serves
up plenty of classic action that should please any fan or veteran of the series.

Apart from the fine tuned play mechanics, HD Remix scores heavily because of
its stunning visual presentation. The unbelievable level of filtering and polish
which is very evident in the hand drawn backdrops and stages. The fantastic
amount of detail on the characters is sure to please eagle-eyed fans of the
series. Apart from the classic 2D visual elements, subtle hints of 3D elements
in the special effects of moves like the Hadouken and Sonic Boom make the
experience all the more rewarding and refreshing.

In the combat, the few changes in the movesets of the characters are pretty
much evident as soon as you start up a fight. Some combat techniques have been
altered, and with fresh alterations in animations and timing, and there is a
handful of newly added moves that can really change your game.
Gladly, the timing required to counter throws and trade hits is certainly
much more forgiving this time around, and with a couple of hours of intense
practice, you can surely engage bouts against the very best in no time.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is the best Street Fighter II that
fans can ever hope to get, until Street Fighter IV comes along.
